Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Caramel-Filled Cookies

Image
We took the girl to Sesame Street live tonight, so I baked cookies to have a recipe in lieu of dinner.  While these tasted good, I am calling it a Pinterest fail.  Notice how they caved in on top?  They are also too big and rich to eat a whole cookie without feeling like you made a big mistake.  (ok my son disagrees because he ate 2!)  So while I am not advocating against the recipe or the idea of stuffed cookies, I don't feel that these were a total success.  They don't really come out of the muffin cup in one piece and you really should eat these with a fork. I am not a baker and I am fully willing to accept that it was all my fault.  In more skilled baking hands, perhaps these will come out as cookies instead of these molten cakes I achieved.  Still, it was a really tasty mess!  Ok I am being a perfectionist and feel like I messed up so I am complaining.  They tasted amazing and who cares how they looked! Peanut Butter Boston Cream Pie

For Father's Day, I wanted to make something I knew my husband would love, a repeat recipe! LOL So, that meant I had to try my hand at baking again.  His favorites are peanut butter and chocolate, so when I saw this on Happy Valley Chow's link party , I knew I had to make it.  It is from the site Baking a Moment .  Now a baker, I am not.  I make a mean sauce, and can cook meals, but breads, cakes, anything that requires a batter or a dough, I am like a fish out of water.  Now I think it came out pretty good, but it didn't look half as good (or most likely taste as wonderful) as the original poster's pie.  That is all on me, but even with my floundering, the end result was good.  The PB pastry cream, outta sight!  The Granache was perfect too, but my genoise was a little dry and I mangled it on the cutting but again, those pesky batters are my nemesis.  Perhaps if I was a huge fan of sweet, I would try to master it, but I will t...

Perfect Couple Pie

Round 2 of being extra nice to the hubby, making him a dessert.  Not being a dessert lover, I don't make them often nor do I practice the craft of making them.  I see this one as kind of cheating as it is so not from scratch, but he loves peanut butter and chocolate.  I accepted the cheating in order to give him something he likes and make it easy on me.  It was pretty good.  I skipped having dessert but I tasted it.  It is very rich and I think the boys felt a little ill after they finished.  Another recipe I found on pinterest.  Not as good as the chicken;).  Oh and just FYI, I try to keep my blog PG or cleaner, but the link to the other blog is more pg-13. Homemade Peanut Butter Cups

I thought I would make a special treat for my darling husband,  He had a positive addiction to peanut butter and chocolate.  I came across this recipe on pinterest, and knew I had to make it for him.  As with every fellow blogger's recipe, I only am going to give you a hint of what is in it and put a link to the original recipe.  It was a little difficult to make.  I didn't make them in the full size muffin tins; I thought that the mini muffins would make a more appropriate size.  I also think that it made it a right pain in the butt.  However, I am always a fan of removing the chemicals from our diet, and using natural peanut butter alone make this a better option.  Any difficulty I encountered in making the dish disappeared when I saw how pleased the boys were and how much they liked them.  One word of caution, if they aren't straight out of the freezer, they squish and become very messy.  Still tasty but a mess. Also next time I will ...

Salted Caramel Pretzel Bark

Evil!  That's the best description of this recipe.  It's easy to make.  Delicious and addictive!  And it lurks in the freezer, out of sight true, but it waiting.  It will surprise you with it's presence when you are weakest, and you can take just a little piece.  This morning when I was getting a pancake out of the freezer, (I always make a big batch of pancakes and freeze them of weekday mornings) it whispered,"you know you want me."  And damn if I didn't.  I hadn't even had my coffee yet; I couldn't be expected to have all my resistance yet.  Besides it's so good with coffee.  I saw a picture of this on pintrest and thought my husband would like it.  Everyone loves it.  I got a text from a friend I sent some home with and it read, "I just ate the last piece and already I'm going into withdrawals".  Evil! I wasn't sure if it was from a blog or not so just to be safe, I put a link to the easy directions!  I don't kno...
